FAQ

Questions, answered plainly

The things people most often ask before they start a project with us.

Frequently asked questions

Getting started

What kinds of project do you take on?

Our main areas are houses and clinics. We also take on commercial, community, mixed-use and conversion projects. If you are unsure, describe it and we will tell you whether we are the right fit.

Do I need a design before I contact you?

No. Many clients come to us with only a site or an idea. We can help shape the brief and bring the right design team together.

Is the first conversation a commitment?

No. It is a chance to explain what you have in mind and for us to give you an honest view and a suggested next step.

Planning & design

Can you handle planning permission?

Yes. We prepare and manage applications as part of the project, and design with planning in mind from the start.

Can I use my own architect?

Yes. We work with your design team or bring one in, and we coordinate drawings with how the building will be built.

Cost & programme

How do you keep cost under control?

We agree scope, price and programme in writing before work starts, track the budget as we go and agree any change in writing before it is carried out.

How long will my project take?

It depends on size, planning and complexity. After an initial review we give a realistic programme and tell you early if anything is likely to change it.

Building

Who will I deal with during the build?

A named point of contact, supported by the wider team, with regular updates agreed at the start.

What happens after handover?

We complete carefully, hand over full documentation and remain your point of contact if anything needs attention.

Clinics

Can you work while the clinic stays open?

Often, yes. We agree a phasing plan in advance so disruptive work is scheduled around appointments wherever possible.

Do you convert non-clinical buildings?

Yes. We assess suitability, advise on any planning change of use and manage the conversion.
